چکیده

An overview is given of the analysis of more than a decade of H2O maser data from our monitoring program. We find the maser emission to generally depend on the luminosity of the YSO as well as on the geometry of the SFR. There appears to be a threshold luminosity of a few times 10 4 L⊙ above and below which we find different maser characteristics.

The 25 years following the serendipitous discovery of megamasers have seen tremendous progress in the study of luminous extragalactic H2O emission. Singledish monitoring and high resolution interferometry have been used to identify sites of massive star formation, to study the interaction of nuclear jets with dense molecular gas and to investigate the circumnuclear environment of active galacti...

We compute the synthetic 2-100 keV spectrum of an actively star forming galaxy. To this aim we use a luminosity function of point sources appropriate for starbursts (based on Chandra data), as well as the types of stellar sources and their corresponding spectra. Our estimates indicate that a Compton spectral component resulting from scattering of SN-accelerated electrons by ambient FIR and CMB ...
